Cobbs Play Barn

Halloween Bake & Play – Wednesday 24th October 1pm-3pm

Make some Spooooky Halloween muffins at Cobbs Play Barn! Costs £12 per child and this includes all equipment, squash, your muffins and time to play in the barn. Booking is essential, contact the Play Barn on 01488 686770 or at play@cobbbsplaybarn.co.uk to book.

Pumpkin Painting – Friday 26th October 1pm-3pm.

Create a spooky pumpkin monster in the party room ready for Halloween. After painting your pumpkins head on over to the Play Barn for a play. Costs £12 per child and this includes all equipment, squash and a play in the Play Barn.

Cobbs Farm Shop

Pumpkin Carving – 22nd-28th October

Pick and pay for your own pumpkin from the Cobbs pumpkin patch or Farm Shop and then head over to the carving tent where you’ll find all the tools required to make your pumpkin ready for Halloween. Entry to the carving tent is £3.50 per child and this includes a Halloween treat and squash.

Halloween Open Air Cinema – Saturday 27th October – THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED

Spooktacular Mess it Up! Messy Play- Tuesday 23rd October 10am-11am

A Spooktacular messy play session for ages 0-4. Costs £6 per child and £5 per sibling.

Halloween Laser Tag Shootout! Wednesday 24th October 5.30pm-7.30pm

A Halloween Laser Tag disco for ages 6-12. Costs £13 per child or £10 per child for Eddie Catz members.

Make a Magical Unicorn or Mystical Dragon Workshop – Thursday 25th October 10am-1pm

Stuff, fluff and adopt your own mystical creature. For ages 4-10 years. Costs £18 per child or £16 per child for Eddie Catz members.

Halloween Party – Friday 26th October 5.30pm-7.30pm

A Halloween party for children up to 10 years and their families. Costs £12 per child (over 12 months), £2 per child (under 12 months) and £4 per adult. Tickets include entertainment, a child’s meal & drink, a Halloween gift and an adult drink. There will be a disco, fancy dress competition and professional entertainment.

A Boat Full of Wool

Mum and Me Craftanoon Tea Party – Tuesday 23rd October 12pm-2pm

A Craftanoon tea party event from our partner A boat full of wool. The tea party will be taking place on board a narrowboat and there will be a basket of craft supplies so you can make your own creation! Suitable for children aged 8 and above. Halloween diddi dance Party – Thursday 25th October 10am-11.30am

A Halloween party from our partner diddi dance! It’s at Sulhamstead and Ufton Nervet Village Hall (RG7 4DA) and costs £10 per child with a 20% discount for siblings. The Ugly Duckling

Harry Potter Party – Saturday 20th October 4pm-6pm

Our partner The Ugly Duckling is holding a Harry Potter themed party with some magical pottery to paint including ghosts and pumpkins! Costs £20 a ticket and you also get a toasted marshmallow hot chocolate. Pop in to book or call on 01635 523778.

The Corn Exchange

Make & Do Holiday Club –Panto Painting Week – Monday 22nd October – Friday 26th October.

A holiday club for children aged 4-10 where they will work with an artist to create the panto artwork. Costs £25 per child per day or £100 for all five days. For more information and to book, visit the Corn Exchange website.

Pumpkin Carving – Saturday 27th October 2018 1pm-4pm

The Nature Discovery Centre

Happy Hedgehog Half Term – Wednesday 24th October 11am-4pm (sessions at 11am, 1pm & 3pm)

Find out how you can help hedgehogs during Autumn and make your own hedgehog house. Costs £30 per hedgehog house. You can book online.

Befriend a Hedgehog – Thursday 25th October 11am-4pm (sessions at 11am, 1pm & 3pm)

A hedgehog rescue charity will have a hedgehog for you to meet and will be telling you what you can do to help hedgehogs. £5 per person. You can book online.

Halloween Slime at Cobbs Play Barn – Thursday 25th October 10am

Family Storytelling – Wednesday 24th October 10.30am-11.15am

An interactive family storytelling session themed around food. Suitable for ages 4-7. Places need to be booked in advance, costs £2 per child. Visit the website for more information.

Linking the Landscape: Under the Microscope – Friday 26th October 10am-1pm

A free event where Local Wildlife Trust experts will have microscopes and some mini beasts. Suitable for all ages, you can drop in at any time.

Messy Museum Day – Friday 26th October 10am-3pm

Make a skull out of clay and then paint it to make a Halloween decoration. Aimed at 4-11 year olds but older & younger children are welcome. £2 per child and there is no need to book, just drop in on the day.

Museum at Night: Dragon Hunt – Friday 26th October 10am-3pm & 5.15pm-7.15pm

Help Blaze the museum dragon count the glow in the dark dragons and find his friends. A free, drop in event, there is no need to book.

Wash Common Scarecrow Hunt – 21st– 28th October

Raising money for the Make a Wish Foundation. You can collect maps from McColls newsagent on Essex Street and follow the trail around Wash Common. £2 per map and you can win tickets to the Falkland Cricket Club Firework Display on 5th November.


There are ‘Creepy Cruise’ Halloween boat trips on the Jubilee narrowboat in Newbury from 24th-28th October. Children can enjoy a spooky story, a Halloween quiz and a chance to have a go at the ‘Trick or Treat’ box. Tickets cost £6 for adults, £5 for seniors and £5 for children aged 2-15. City Arts Newbury is running some workshops over half term, including Halloween Craft Sessions on Monday 22nd October at 10am & 1pm where children will be able to create Halloween decorations.
